Knowing how to intervene in an avalanche accident is essential for every ski mountaineer. Proper training means protecting ourselves and others. Use of ARTVA, probing, digging, casualty management with field simulations are the contents of our days.

ALPINE TECHNIQUES FOR SKI MOUNTAINEERING
Ski mountaineering, as the name suggests, means taking skis into unexplored terrain: we often have to proceed on foot or move over rocky, icy, or exposed sections. In all these cases, it is essential to know how to use crampons, the ice axe, and possibly the rope to reduce risks and allow us to approach the most beautiful high-altitude excursions.

STEEP SKIING
Once it was considered extreme skiing beyond the fateful inclination of 40 degrees. It was an unknown world for a few specialists. In the last twenty years, the impressive technical progress of equipment and skiers has raised the bar, and major ski mountaineering routes often have sections above that fateful limit. Technique, equipment, management of the excursion and oneself, however, require progressive adaptation.
Our outings on the slopes and targeted excursions are aimed at improving the approach to steep terrain for the expert ski mountaineer.

OFF-PISTE SKI TECHNIQUE
Technical in-depth days on and off, targeted exercises also with the help of the Ski Instructor to improve general technique and transfer it to off-piste skiing. Gaining good autonomy on difficult snow is the premise for greater fun and safety in ski mountaineering and freeride.
We organize outings in the main ski resorts of Piedmont and Valle d'Aosta.

ETNA
SKI MOUNTAINEERING ON ETNA
With skis on the largest volcano in the Mediterranean
1-2-3 March 2023
At 3,350 meters, Etna is the highest active volcano in Europe and for centuries has been the setting for myths and legends. An incredible ascent that offers grand and unique landscapes: from the blue of the sea to the white snow-covered slopes, from blossoming almond trees and orange gardens up to the summit that spits fire, smoke, and ashes.
Friday evening:The trip will take place by plane. Departure from Pisa at 19:30, arrival in Catania at 21:00
Alternatively, it is possible to leave from Genoa at 16:00 and arrive at 17:50; in this case, the meeting with the Guide will take place directly at Catania airport. Overnight stay in B&b near Fontanarossa airport
Saturday: Breakfast and departure around 7:30 am. Transfer to Linguaglossa (Etna North) by rental car or minibus up to Citelli refuge (1736 m – about 1.10h)
Ski mountaineering excursion: parture from Rifugio Citelli. Ascent through the Serra delle Concazze up to the Pizzi Deneri Volcanological Observatory at an altitude of 2840.
From here you can admire the magnificent panorama of almost all of eastern Sicily, including the Ionian Sea and Calabria. Descent through the splendid Quarantore gully. Elevation gain: 1140 m.
Dinner and overnight stay in Linguaglossa in B&B or Refuge (depending on availability).
Sunday Ski mountaineering excursion: departure at 7:45 am for Piano Provenzana: depending on snow conditions and the participants' training you can start with skis on or use the ski lifts to go from 1800 to 2400 meters, up to the ski lift arrival station. From here, ascent with skins to the Central Crater at 3340m.
Descent through one of the beautiful channels (more or less steep) that lead from the summit back to Piano Provenzana. Elevation difference: 1500 m (950 m if using the ski lifts)
NOTE: The program of the two days may be reversed depending on weather conditions.
Equipment:
Full ski mountaineering equipment, harness, helmet, lanyard. The common safety equipment is provided by the organization. Helmet. High altitude clothing. Despite the southern latitude, strong winds, exposure, and altitude can result in very severe weather conditions.

The rates include common equipment and the assistance of the Alpine Guide, bed & breakfast accommodations, car rental, fuel, insurance, and Guide fees.
They do not include the airfare (which must be booked by the participants in good time), any cable car costs, travel to and from the airport, and any extras
BOOKING DEADLINE February 15 with a deposit payment of 20%
By February 5th, a nivo-meteo conditions check will be carried out to verify the mountain conditions. In case of unfavorable conditions, a postponement of the dates will be proposed
