Via Ferratas

For many, a very difficult hike... for others, a very easy climb... often one of the gateways to the vertical world. Born at the end of the 1800s for exploratory purposes, they found their dramatic spread during the wartime events of the First World War, especially in the Dolomites. Today, found almost everywhere in the Alps and even beyond, and called almost everywhere "vie Ferrate" to honor a very Italian history, they are a very interesting way to travel along walls and daring ridge routes in that indistinct border between hiking and mountaineering, where, however, it is necessary to adopt very strict behaviors to fully enjoy their charm.

ON THE BORDER BETWEEN HIKING AND MOUNTAINEERING

Monte Emilius 3556 m

A mighty and wild mountain. It dominates the basin of the city of Aosta and despite this proximity, it is little frequented and very severe. The recent via ferrata on the West ridge (on the right in the photo) partly follows a historic mountaineering route and allows for a wide-ranging and very varied itinerary, returning via the normal route on the solitary southern slope. A destination not to be missed for the trained hiker, used to long traverses on the border of mountaineering.

Upcoming dates: 27-28 August 2021 (booking by 21 August) - 7-8 September 2021 (booking by 1 September) - other dates on request
