Extended information text on the use of cookies

This website uses technical cookies to ensure the proper functioning of procedures and to improve the user experience of online applications. This document provides information on the use of cookies and similar technologies, how they are used by the site, and how to manage them.

Definitions

Cookies are small text files that websites visited by users send to their devices, where they are stored to be sent back to the same sites on the next visit. So-called "third-party" cookies, on the other hand, are set by a website different from the one the user is visiting. This is because each site may contain elements (images, maps, sounds, specific links to web pages of other domains, etc.) that reside on servers different from that of the visited site.

Types of cookies

Based on the characteristics and use of cookies, different categories can be distinguished:

- Technical cookies. Technical cookies are those used solely for the purpose of "carrying out the transmission of a communication over an electronic communications network, or to the extent strictly necessary for the provider of an information society service explicitly requested by the subscriber or user to provide that service" (see art. 122, paragraph 1, of the Code). They are not used for further purposes and are normally installed directly by the owner or operator of the website. They can be divided into navigation or session cookies, which ensure normal navigation and use of the website; analytics cookies, which are considered technical cookies when used directly by the site manager to collect information, in aggregate form, on the number of users and how they visit the site itself; functionality cookies, which allow the user to navigate according to a set of selected criteria in order to improve the service provided. The installation of such cookies does not require the prior consent of users, while the obligation to provide information pursuant to art. 13 of the Code remains, which the site manager, if only such devices are used, may provide in the manner deemed most appropriate.

- Profiling cookies. Profiling cookies are aimed at creating user profiles and are used in order to send advertising messages in line with the preferences expressed by the user while browsing the web. Due to the particular intrusiveness that such devices can have in the private sphere of users, European and Italian regulations require that the user be adequately informed about their use and thus express valid consent. They are referred to in Article 122 of the Code, which states that "the storage of information in the terminal device of a contracting party or user or access to information already stored is permitted only on condition that the contracting party or user has given their consent after being informed in the simplified manner referred to in Article 13, paragraph 3" (Art. 122, paragraph 1, of the Code). This site does not use profiling cookies.

"Third-party" cookies

By visiting this website, you may receive cookies from sites managed by other organizations ("third parties"). An example is the presence of "social plugins" for Facebook, Twitter, Google+ or LinkedIn, or systems for displaying embedded multimedia content such as Youtube, Flikr. These are parts generated directly by the aforementioned sites and integrated into the web page of the visited host site. The presence of these plugins involves the transmission of cookies to and from all sites managed by third parties. The management of information collected by "third parties" is governed by their respective privacy policies, which you are kindly requested to refer to. For greater transparency and convenience, below are the web addresses of the various privacy policies and methods for managing cookies.

Analytics cookies

WebTrends

For the sole purpose of monitoring and improving the site's performance, a commercial statistical analysis product is used to detect site access. It may use cookies, both permanent and not, in order to collect statistical information and about the site's "unique visitors." The cookies, defined as "Unique Visitor Cookies," contain an alphanumeric code that identifies browsing computers, but do not collect any personal data.

Google Analytics

The site also includes components transmitted by Google Analytics, a web traffic analysis service provided by Google, Inc. ("Google"). These cookies are used solely to monitor and improve the site's performance. For more information, please refer to the link indicated below:

https://www.google.it/policies/privacy/partners/

The user can selectively disable the action of Google Analytics by installing the opt-out component provided by Google on their browser. To disable the action of Google Analytics, please refer to the link indicated below:

Cookie duration

Some cookies (session cookies) remain active only until the browser is closed or a possible logout command is executed. Other cookies "survive" the closing of the browser and are available even during subsequent visits by the user. These cookies are called persistent and their duration is set by the server at the time of their creation. In some cases, an expiration date is set, in other cases the duration is unlimited.

Cookie management

The user can decide whether or not to accept cookies using their browser settings.

Warning: completely or partially disabling technical cookies may compromise the optimal use of the site.

Disabling "third-party" cookies does not affect navigation in any way.

The setting can be defined specifically for different websites and web applications. Additionally, browsers allow you to set different preferences for "first-party" cookies and "third-party" cookies. For example, in Firefox, through the Tools->Options->Privacy menu, you can access a control panel where you can choose whether or not to accept different types of cookies and proceed with their removal. Documentation on how to set cookie management rules for your browser is easily available online; for example, here are some links related to the main browsers:
